Nobody Looks Good In A Graduation Cap

dress: c/o eShakti, heels: Target, earrings: H&M, ring: c/o InPink

Finally! I’m blogging about this dress! eShakti sent this to me last fall and I never had a fancy enough occasion to wear it to. Looks like graduation was the ticket. πŸ˜‰ The sizing of this dress is perfect. There’s a hidden zipper in the side and an elastic waistline. I will say that the sheer sleeves are too big for my liking. I’d much prefer it if they were more skin tight. I’m sure I can persuade my mom to fix that. πŸ˜› Oh! Did I mention there are pockets?! Perfect for hiding my lipgloss and phone in while I waltzed across the stage last Friday night. πŸ™‚

Wanna see a picture of me in my grad garb? Okay, fine. Here I am in all of my robed glory.

This jumping picture is a tradition when I graduate. This is the third in my series of jumping pictures. πŸ™‚ I was supporting End It Movement on my cap. I hope I spread at least some interest and curiosity!

Upside down. Nice. πŸ˜‰

Funny story about that robe. My friend Megan and I were backstage and I wondered why hers, which was the same size as mine, was so much smaller. We looked at the tags and I bought a plus size robe. That would explain why my hands and arms disappeared. πŸ˜› We had a good laugh the entire ceremony, but I still rocked it, right? Right.

I’ve begun applying for bid kid jobs and it’s kind of scary! I’ve applied for three so far, all secretary related. I’m thinking I’ll get a semi-easy job and save up some money while figuring out where God wants me for the musical part of my life. It’s scary and exciting at the same time! Wish me “luck”! πŸ˜›

Happy Tuesday!

*Thanks to eShakti for sending me this dress and allowing me to graduate in style. πŸ™‚

Crossing things off.

One of my fall goals is to take a lot of pictures of the leaves. I’ve never done that before and it was a little harder than I thought. The leaves on campus seem to just be getting to their glamour stage and they’re really showing off. Maybe I’m really blind, but I’ve just noticed the leaves near our home start to change. I made sure to snap a ton while I was outside yesterday before they all off! I just love that rainbow vine I found on our tree in the front yard! How cool is that?!

I’ll be taking the rest of the week off to be thankful for my ridiculously awesome family and wear (very) stretchy leggings.

Happy Thanksgiving! I sure am thankful for all of you. πŸ™‚

xx

The day after.

sweater: Old Navy, skirt: F21, moccasin fringe boots: Urban Outfitters

I wore this yesterday which was the day after my recital. I had to be up early to observe an elementary music class not too far away so I wanted to be warm, my version of professional, and comfy. I had packed this as an outfit change after my recital but my sister and mom wanted me to flaunt that dress to the restaurant. πŸ™‚

I bought this sweater during Black Friday (which I will NEVER.EVER. do again.) and this is probably the second or third time I’ve worn it. I don’t know why, I think I thought it looked different in my head! But it pairs pretty nicely with the long chiffon skirt and kept me very warm.

I couldn’t believe the lighting was decent enough to take pictures. I get home at almost 5 on school days and the sun is already setting! It was dark like 15 minutes after we took these. CRAZY.

Hope you’re having a good week! It’s almost THANKSGIVING! What?!

PS. Enter the giveaway! Tomorrow’s the last day!

I love you guys.

So I’m done. I’m done with voice lessons, juries, recitals… I’m done!

I finished my senior recital last night and it. was. awesome. I had an absolute blast on stage performing for my friends and family and I’m so glad they enjoyed it! I feel like I “peaked” as my sister said last night and it couldn’t have come at a better time considering I didn’t get off to a great start!

I was packing things up and checking things off my list all day while getting prepared but 3 minutes down the road on our way there I squealed, “Crap! My dress!” Jason swung the car around and we headed back to the house. The one thing I needed the most and I forgot it! I KNEW I’d do it, too. I’d been thinking about forgetting it all day and telling myself, wouldn’t that be awful? Which I’m sure made me forget it. But I got the dress and we headed to the school. I got there 25 minutes after I wanted to be there so I could finish getting ready at my own pace and relax some.

My mom and sister met me in the dressing room and finished my hair and helped me get dressed and calm me down. Could. Not. have done it without them! I finished getting ready in plenty of time and headed backstage to wait it out. My accompanist, my voice teacher, and I were relaxed and just ready to get it going! I walked out on stage confident and excited.

I loved that so much of our family came and supported me. It really made me feel so great! Love you guys! There was so much of an outpouring of support and excitement for me after the recital and for that I am so grateful. I truly love the school I attend. πŸ™‚

Afterwards my family took us out to fancy shmancy Villa Montez! We had a blast sitting around and talking for hours. Have I mentioned I love my family? Seriously. Wow. My sisters and mom didn’t want me to change before heading to the restaurant so I showed up in my formal dress. I was the best dressed in the joint πŸ™‚ Afterwards we took pictures outside in the frigid weather. I’ll be sure to upload those later in the week. Right now I’m still on a high!

Suffice it to say I love you all. πŸ™‚

I passed + a pretty dress

dress: Target, booties: F21, bracelet: Mom’s

I know I’ve exhausted Twitter and Facebook with the news, but it you haven’t heard I did pass my recital hearing yesterday! Thank you all so much for the well wishes and prayers. They really did help πŸ™‚ I got some great feedback from my panel and am officially two weeks and five days away from my concert! I can’t wait to get all gussied up for it!

On to this dress. I saw it Sunday in Target on a trip with my mom and sisters. I really only have a couple of “dressy” dresses for things like this so I kind of used my hearing as an excuse to buy it. I got loads of compliments and it really it super comfortable. The colors are pretty awesome. As one girl put it, “It looks like a peacock!” Yes, yes it does! The only thing it’s missing is pockets.

Now that my hearing is done I think I deserve some moscato, huh?

Best thrifted thing ever.

tee: Target (similar), oxfords: Target, skirt: Salvation Army (similar here)

If I could meet the person that made this skirt I’d at least hug them. The more I look at it, it seems to be homemade. Seams are all intact and it’s super comfy so I’m happy. Also the $6 price tag didn’t hurt.

My recital hearing is tomorrow at 1:00 pm. Eeek! Everything is memorized and I’m feeling confident. Since I’ve got the day off I’m going to spend it mentally preparing and running through my songs one last time. Once this hearing is over I will relax a little and start to have fun. I can’t wait to show you guys my recital dress!
