Awkward and Awesome!

AWKWARD:

-One of my teachers. Just… yikes.
-Watching a friend nearly kill himself and not being able to stop it. Good grief. (That really falls more under awful.) (And maybe the kill thing is a little dramatic. It was still scary.)
-The heat in December. Come on, Texas. Seriously.
-Me. Dancing. In our choir concert. Hot.
-How unfestive the house looks right now. This heat is making it hard to get in the spirit.
-Not seeing friends for a month after finals are over! šŸ™ (Also under the heading of awful.)
-Taking the dog out in sweats while cars drive by. Uh, hi.

AWESOME:

-Finals are next week! Then CHRISTMAS!
-My dad being in China for two weeks and hearing about him eating exotic things. He’s so cultured.
-A Christmas party this Saturday. Hooray!
-There’s a Christmas tree in the music building! Yay festive!
-Spending family Christmas in Dallas this year!
-How many exclamation points I’m using in this post.
-Getting the car fixed next Monday FINALLY from the wreck!
-Finishing my last ever fall semester. It’s really bittersweet!

Tomorrow’s Friday šŸ™‚

Awkward and Awesome

cardi: AE, tank: Pacsun, skirt: F21, scarf: borrowed, rings: flea market

Awkward:

-First thing Monday morning I get a flat tireĀ andĀ bend the rim. AGAIN.
-Ordered a new rim and it came in a couple of days later. Bent.
-How easy it is to make fun of Apple!
-Wednesday morning I went to observe an elementary music class and went to the wrong classroom. Went a little something like this:

Me: “Hi, I’m supposed to observe today?”
Receptionist: “Well, do you have some kind of paper saying that?”
Me: “Uh, no… I arranged it with the teacher.”
Receptionist lets me stand there awkwardly while she ignores me for a while.
Receptionist: “So you’ll walk all the way down this hall and it’s on your left.”
Me: Standing for ten minutes knocking. Teacher walks down hall and says, “Are you looking for me?”
Me: “Yes!” once inside, “Where would you like me to sit?”
Teacher: “Oh, anywhere you want. What are you here for?”
Me: “Oh, I’m here to observe you. I sent you an email.” (I had heard back so this seemed weird.)
Teacher: “Oh I didn’t get an email. What did it say?”
Me: “Uh, are you Mrs. Blahblah?”
Teacher: “No.”
Crap.
Ten minutes after the start of her class I made it. And she was lovely.

Awesome:

-All the rain we’re getting! YAY!
-Like I even have to say it… the iPhone 5. (Yes, Apple is awkward and conceited. But they make a good phone, okay?)
-A new rim is now ready for us. So $160 later, we’re back to where we were.
-Going to Gearbox’s release party for Borderlands 2 tonight! How CRAZY is that?! They’re HQ is right here in Dallas. Thankfully I’ve got a pretty cool aunt and uncle that are letting us tagalong. šŸ™‚

Now excuse me while I wait on my new iPhone…

PS. What do you think of the “new” layout? Thought I’d give the pictures a chance to be a little bigger! Not set on it yet. Thoughts?

Awkward and Awesome

AWESOME:

-We’re only a week and two days away from our surprise. šŸ™‚
-Getting something shipped here to house our surprise!
-We are scheduled to finally get DirecTV back on August 2! Woo Olympics! Also Golden Girls.
-Friday is dedicated to a marathon day date. YES.
-I finally unpacked my suitcase from our vacation two weeks ago.
-Getting lots of things squared away on the phone yesterday with too many customer service reps. But as least they were helpful!
-Netflix has season four of Breaking Bad now! Goodbye, evenings.
-Planning next year’s vacations. Oh. Man. Next year is looking goooooood.

AWKWARD:

-Jason was on the phone with DirecTV for over two and a half hours yesterday. Not one person called him ‘sir.’
-When he corrected the first person, she just giggled (probably because she didn’t hear a word he said) and kept calling him ‘ma’am.’
-Being put on hold three separate times because apparently no one at DirecTV knows what an average is.
-All of my flowers are either dead or dying. The only thing I can keep alive are cacti.
Bloglovin‘s new layout. It’s freaking me out.
-The cats playing with the thing we got to house our surprise. They can’t figure it out!

Hope you guys are having a great week!

Awkward:

-When a guy looks totally normal from the front. Then he turns to the side and his ponytail comes in full view…
-Seriously, is it healthy to not wear a bra this much?
-How many crickets/dogs/birds/noises live in our trees behind our bedroom window. SERIOUSLY. QUIET. DOWN.
-I play Draw Something with both of my sisters and now my mom. About a week ago my youngest sister sent me a drawing. She wrote ‘Money!’ and then drew a coin with 50 cents written on it. The answer was ‘quarter.’ … Love you, Ru. šŸ™‚

Awesome:

-We leave for vacation in a week! Yay family time!
-Our church’s ice cream social is next Sunday night. Tons of homemade ice cream and treats accompanied by a giant waterslide and endless conversation. Yes. Please.
-All of the amazing shops and flea markets we’re going to visit on vacation. Be still my heart.
-Spending a couple of days last week poolside which resulted in some lovely color on my white, white skin.
-Hanging out by the pool today.
-The surprise I’m hiding from all of you for just a few more weeks! (Not a baby.)

Awkward and Awesome!

my pretty porch flowers and window sill succulents. šŸ™‚

Awkward:

-Answering the door without a bra on and not being able to ignore the knock because the door is open and they can see the TV on.
-Getting stalked.
-Watering the plants in Jason’s shoes because it’s too far to walk to the bedroom to get my own.
-Having the worst case of chaffing ever and being handed Preparation H by my mom to “help with the burning.” Thanks, mom.
-Not showering for days because I’m a grown woman and can do what I want. So there. (Don’t worry. I showered today.)
-Did I mention my sister and I were stalked? I mean, really, that’s about as awkward as it gets.

Awesome:

-My mom cutting my bangs for me. šŸ™‚
-Spongebob is on Netflix. Duh.
-Homemade pizza! Possibly the best thing ever. Besides my mom’s homemade pizza. Oh, yum.
-Spending the night with my mom and sister and staying up way too late laughing deliriously. The best.
Upgrading to Jason’s 3Gs from my 3G. It’s like I’ve been living in a really….slow moving bubble. (I’m terrible with analogies.) I can’t imagine what the 5 is going to be like! Eeek!
-Saving money. Lots of it.
-The school gym is finally getting air conditioning. Hello, indoor running!
-Dreaming of moving out of crazy town and buying a place we choose. Ahh… someday.

Awkward:

-Sitting in my car yesterday a cop comes up and taps on my window. After checking my drawers I roll down my window with all kinds of thoughts running through my head. Is it not okay to just sit in my car? I have a parking sticker, right? Waitā€“am I speeding? He asks me if Iā€™m having car trouble because a girl told him I couldnā€™t get my car to start. Uh, no. I apologized saying that no, the car was fine and that the air conditioner was what was making that horrific noise. After posting this on Facebook my classmate, Shelley, comes forth and confesses that it was indeed her that told copper I couldnā€™t start my car. Thanks again, Shelley. šŸ™‚
-We went to buy a dishwasher Tuesday night and got netted by the salesman for 20 minutes telling us his life story. Though he was really helpful, I could have done without the stories about you making $300,000 a year when you were younger. (Congratsā€¦?) (Also, why are you working at Loweā€™s at 71?)
-How intense Jason gets with his basketball game. Dear, your character is like 85. Also, itā€™s a game.
-Hearing people complain when I donā€™t agree. I bite my tongue. A lot.
-Singing on recital last week and having to go to the bathroom so bad. Usually you leave the hall two or three performances before yours to make it backstage. I was going to leave an extra one early to go to the bathroom but decided too late and it was so silent in there that I couldnā€™t get up and leave. Iā€™ve never concentrated on a performance so hard.
-Because we arenā€™t getting a dishwasher until Friday (see below) weā€™ve let the dishes pile up for about a week. I spread Nutella with a spoon today.

Awesome:

-We are FINALLY getting a dishwasher tomorrow!! (Did you know that Loweā€™s puts up their sales on Thursday mornings? Thanks, Ben from the appliance department for the heads up!)
-How quickly my hair curls now that itā€™s short. It really is a miracle.
-Being debt free.
-How much daylight there is now. Hooray!
-There are only five weeks of school left. I should start my history paperā€¦
-My collection of colored jeans is growing rapidly. I am liking this.
-How slow and empty this week is for me. Itā€™s so nice!
-How many episodes of Scrubs Iā€™ve watched this week. Itā€™s a sickness. I use to make fun of Jason when he knew which episode belonged to what season. Now Iā€™m right there with him quoting every single line in time. My life is pathetic.
-Finally getting to see my sister this weekend!!!

Happy Thursday!
