Neglecting

So sorry I’ve neglected you, sweet blog. And lied to you about posting about my wedding. I promise I’ll get to it soon! I’m so busy with our Spring Vocal that’s coming up this Saturday and with a surprise that our humongous PowerPoint for my online world lit class is due next week instead of four weeks from now. I guess I’d better get on that.

Today is A&A day but I figured since I’ve neglected this long why not neglect this day too! Not really. But I really won’t be doing one today.

Since I’m not doing that I guess I’ll tell you how my week has been and what I’m doing now.

Tuesday afternoon I came home and took a super long nap. Like a four hour one. I guess that’s a sleep. Anyway, I woke up and felt really sick. I was sick all afternoon and part of the night. It was awful. Poor Jason didn’t even want to be around me so I stayed in our room watching Scrubs on Netflix but when that got to be too loud for my stomach I had to turn it off and lay in silence willing the nausea to go away. It didn’t work.

I woke up Wednesday feeling better but afraid that I would get sick at school so I stayed home and slept the rest of it off. I ate a little and felt better. Jason went to the store and got me ice cream and Dr. Pepper. 🙂 By the time 7 pm rolled around last night I was starving so I finally ate some pizza and watching a lot of episodes of House. Jason fell asleep in the chair next to me but I wasn’t even tired. All the episodes of House in our DVR were played out and I was so bored I couldn’t think of anything to do but go to bed. But I couldn’t sleep. Finally, after 5 games of Solitaire, rest found me.

I got up for school this morning and felt humongous. Blahhhh. I went to class and felt pretty good. My voice lesson had to move into the big gap I had in my day which only left me a few minutes to eat lunch before 5. After class, I had rehearsal for aforementioned Spring Vocal. Luckily, (for the record, I don’t believe in luck, just using it as one of those words like however, therefore, you know, grammar) my duet was up first so I got to leave after that. Woo.

After that, a little retail therapy at the local Goodwill to get costumes for the Spring Vocal and maybe a couple of things unrelated to that. 🙂 Shhh.. don’t tell Jason.

As of now, I’m watching reruns of the office and cooking marinated chicken and roasting veggies in the oven and making rice pilaf out of a box. Don’t judge.

I’d tell you what I was doing later but it’s none of your business. 🙂

FYI, I’ll be taking a hiatus (like I haven’t already) on the blog for parts of next week. I’ll be working on that darned PowerPoint that snuck up on me and tried to slash my Achilles’ heel. Jerk.

Lates. 🙂

What Do You Think?

I’ve gotten a lot of requests (no I haven’t) to do some posts about how I put together my wedding. While planning and putting things together I took pictures specifically for this purpose. Since there is a LOT that goes into planning and organizing a wedding, I’m thinking next week should be Wedding Week here on Ruffled Melodies. I’ll go through my whole process. From making a timeline and to the actual day. Now that I think about it, it might take two weeks.

What do you guys think?

Awkward and Awesome

(this is a humongous picture from my bridals of my Milkpod Studiobouquet. That’s my MawMaw’s ring hanging from it. 🙂 PS. That dress is for sale!)

I have been looking forward to this day all week. No class till noon, hanging out with my mom, and my sisters are staying with me this weekend.

April Fools.

My friend, Kait, texted me a little after 9 telling me that my 9 am class wasn’t cancelled like we all thought it was. I pulled up to the church where my mom works and her and my dad were with a group of kids waiting to leave to go to Dallas for Passion. Didn’t get to hang with her. Oh, and I lost my W-2. But my sisters are still staying with me!

Worst April Fools. Except it wasn’t a joke. It was totally for real. Blahhhh.

I’m currently hanging alone at my parents’ house until it’s time to pick up my little sister from school and then head out to my house. Husband tried hunting for my poor lost W-2 but to no avail. I kept it in my “Important Things” drawer but when I went to get it from the top of the drawer, it was gone. I’m panicking. Taxes are due ASAP and I’ve stupidly misplaced the one form I need.

Sadly, I’ll only get back like $20. It’s almost useless. But who wants to get attacked by the IRS?! Sheesh.

BUT! Today is Friday. Yesterday was Thursday. You might be saying, “Uh, duh”, but I missed awkward/awesome day. So I’m proclaiming that today, momentarily, become awkward and awesome Thu–err, Friday!

AWKWARD:

-Said text message from said friend saying my class wasn’t cancelled.
-Losing my W-2. That really isn’t awkward. It’s more like.. awful.
-While hanging up my clothes that have been lying in our bedroom floor for a week, I discovered a wet present Toonces left me. All. Over. My. Clean. Clothes. That’s more like awful, too.

AWESOME:

-Cleaning up the house a lot this morning before my  supposed only class today. I felt so accomplished.
-Not having an online quiz this week for world lit!
-Feeling pretty good about my intense music theory test on Thursday.
-Doing well in my ear training course on Wednesday. Without studying.
-This weekend!

Hoping your Friday has gone better so far for you,
Melody.

It’s Late…r

Sorry for the “late” post. I got home later than usual for a Tuesday and have been relaxing in our very old leather chair by the window while rain pours down. It’d be lovelier if my head wasn’t hurting and wasn’t feeling feverish and had a looming performance tomorrow morning.

Hubs and I have put off grocery shopping for two days. I guess we’ll eat eventually. 🙂

I don’t really have anything important to post about and since I’m not up on my “outfit posts” I don’t have a stockpile of them to post when I don’t get dressed. But I actually did get dressed today and really wanted to take pictures of it but forgot when I was home before Jason. Oh well.

So instead of boring you with real life things, I’ll fill you in on what some of my goals are for this year.

I’ve never been one for New Year (why do people capitalize that?) resolutions. Why do I want to hype myself up to do something when I know I’m not going to do it? I’d rather ease my way into something and do it the right way. Like eating better, exercising daily again, and taking my schooling more seriously.

What am I doing to achieve those things, you ask? Well, a month ago I started the Couch to 5k program and so far I’ve done two days of it. No judging. At least now I have the desire to do it. I wouldn’t even have to if these stupid artificial hormones wouldn’t make me gain 20 pounds in two months. Geez.

As far as eating better… I eat vegetables… more than I used to. Before I got married I had this vision of me cooking healthy foods all the time and eating snacks and running with Jason. In real life it’s I-cook-whatever-I-want-and-have-no-motivation-to-run-anymore-because-I-already-got-married. Boom.

Taking my schooling more seriously hasn’t morphed into an action yet, but more of a desire. I think about practicing more but I really just don’t. I still wait until the night before to do all of my theory homework and to do all of my practicing. Bad habit? Yes. Oops. UT Tyler didn’t know what they were asking to come be a part of their school, did they?

Here. Look at this. I’ll be back tomorrow with *hopefully* a post with more pictures. But probably not.

Be Our Friends

I wish our living room looked like this.

SO excited. My solid black sequin jacket came in from Modcloth today. Wooohoooo! On to the post.

Ever since about sophomore year in high school I’ve been without some solid friends. I had a group of friends that I had an absolute BLAST with through the rest of my high school “career”, (is it really a career? I mean come on. I didn’t get paid. Isn’t that the definition of career?) but I never had friends I could connect with spiritually and could feel comfortable enough to even talk about that stuff with. We hung out a lot outside of school which was awesome but it was still shallow.

Since being married, Jason and I have shared the same desire: to acquire married friends with whom (ooo la la. I used whom!) we can connect. Same humor, same desires, same hobbies, etc. You know, friends. Jason met a new guy at one of his ultimate frisbee games and we had dinner at their house Saturday night. And I have to say, I had a good time. We played XBOX Kinect for like three hours. (That game’ll make you sweaty, btw.) They grilled delish chicken and veggies. I tried to recreate last night but without squash, it just wasn’t the same. Sigh.

I just wish I had a group of girlfriends I could go shopping with. Friends who had my same budget. Read: cheap. (Speaking of money, are those people on JG Wentworth really singing opera? It’s kind of impressive.) Girls who actually like Golden Girls and baking and consuming chocolate of extreme, massive, humongous, proportions.

(At least my sisters are spending this weekend with me! I can’t wait to cook for them and watch movies. Woohoo! I’m really excited.)

PS. What’s with this new Easter movie? It looks like a lot of junk to me. A bunny that poops jelly beans? Really? Do something original and something that’s ACTUALLY FUNNY. THERE’S an idea! That pretty much goes for any movie that’s absolutely silly. ie: What Happens in Vegas… uhhhh…. and any other movie that is dumb. Uh. Bye.
