Oops, I’m Rockabilly.

When I got dressed this day my only intention was to wear the most new things I could. Who knew it would turn out kinda rockabilly? But srsly. This dress is flattering and cute and comfy. Just wish it had pockets. 🙁

I was really feeling this French braid faux hawk. It jazzes up my real boring pony tail and keeps it out of my face so the tiny babies won’t grab and yank my hair out which happens more than you think. One of the babies thinks it’s funny to take my hair and put it on her head to pretend like she’s got more hair. Uh, the cutest thing ever.

Btw, did I use ‘rockabilly’ right? I’m not real streetz smart. :/ Keep me cool, you guys. I need all the help I can get!

So how’s your week going? It’s almost Friday! Hallelujah! I’ve been spending my free time chowing on clearance Halloween candy because I’m an adult and can do what I want so life is going pretty well. I’m real close to having enough saved up for a car, too! Yay for almost not being carless anymore! And yay for being that much closer to moving out! Wee! Adult!

Anyway, hope you guys are having a good week!

Byeeeee!

Homecoming

Processed with VSCOcam

A few Friday nights ago was my high school’s homecoming, and since my youngest sister is in the band we went to watch! The band is pretty hardcore and the director is the coolest guy. We’re all real proud of Rudy meeting new people and finding something she loves to do! And I guess it was worth it because Shel caught a real expensive football. Even though I understand nothing about football it’s so fun to go to a game and just be a part of a crowd and eat cheap concession food. Texas, right?

Beauty Tuesday: Hautelook Haul Laura Gellar Beauty

Happy Tuesday!

Since following Beauty Broadcast on YouTube and learning of Laura Gellar’s baked products, I knew I had to try them somehow, but paying 30+ for a powder foundation or blush? No, thanks. But Hautelook came to the rescue just like always! I bought her Balance-N-Brighten powder foundation in regular/medium (only shade available) and an NYC kit that included a Blush-N-Brighten in Berry, mini size of Real Deal Concealer in medium, and a Light Beams Ultimate Shine Lip Gloss in Passion Fruit.

This is the Balance-N-Brighten in regular/medium. There are five shades available: porcelain, fair, regular/medium, tan, and deep. It’s normally $33, I got it for $17.50 on Hautelook, and is sold at ULTA and lauragellar.com. This product is baked on a terracotta tile and is swirled with multiple shades including some yellow. Blended all together it gives a nice color. The regular shade is a pretty good match for me but might be a hair too dark. I have noticed that it seems to cling to the Real Deal Concealer, which is too dark for me, when I put it over top. I have not tried it with a lighter concealer but I have learned to put whatever concealer I’m using on top of the foundation. It has great coverage and is best used with a very dense brush. I have worn it alone and it has decent staying power without any touch-ups, but I’ve used it more on top of a liquid foundation and it lasts just fine.

This is Blush-N-Brighten in Berry. It retails for $31, but I got it in a kit with two other products for $21! I am so in love with this blush! It is the perfect amount of gold shimmer. Some less expensive blushes can look very sparkly but this gives such a perfect glow! I love just staring at the gorgeous swirls of color. After I first opened it I couldn’t stop looking at it and even shoved it in my sister’s face for her to appreciate. She didn’t.
There are shades of gold, berry, and purple (but not too purple!) in this. It isn’t a super concentrated berry shade but it gives a great flush of natural berry on the cheeks. I have even used it on top of other berry blushes to give it a more natural glowy look. The staying power is great with this and the product will last me a long time!

This is the Light Beams Ultimate Shine Lip Gloss in Passion Fruit. Alone it retails for $17. It’s a great mauve-berry color with some shimmer in it. It’s great for a natural look or layered on top of another deeper lipstick. I don’t find it to be particularly unique, but it is a nice shade. The formula is pretty great as well. It’s a little thicker but not sticky which allows it to last longer. I’m not sure if this is full size, but it’s not the biggest gloss I own. It’s a squeeze tube format applicator which I don’t mind, but it does take me a second to make sure the color is evenly applied on my lips.

Laura Geller Beauty | Shop Real Deal Concealer

THIS. Oh. This Real Deal Concealer in medium retails for $22 full size (.7 oz). This is the most FULL coverage concealer I own. It is ridiculous. It takes the most miniscule amount to dab on a problem area and it.is.gone. However, this shade in medium is too dark for me so I have to layer a lighter one on top or make sure and blend it in really well underneath some powder. To me, the price is absolutely worth it. For the coverage and amount you get, it’s a steal. The mini size I have will last me forever! If you’re looking for something that can handle all of your issues, this is it. For real.

So there you go, guys! Hope you enjoyed this mini haul and that you learned a little something. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments!

Happy Tuesday!

Pop Pop Gets a Treat

Six days before my birthday is my dad’s birthday. He turned 49 this year but I’m totally not embarrassed that my dad is old because he has a beard and is kewl!

We celebrated in classic dad style with lots of good food and cake. Mom made the best Chinese food you’ll ever have and crab rangoon dip. DIP. Okay? Like those little fried fortune cookie things with crab dip inside? THIS.IS.JUST.THE.INSIDES. THEN she made wonton chips. They are so much better than any other kind of dipping chip. So crispy and bubble and light. Yum.

He’s growing out his beard for the rest of the year starting back in September. Yikes.

Happy Birthday Pop Pop!

Twice a year, October and April, the HiWay 80 sale happens. It’s like a lot of garage sales all pile onto one hiway and you drive up and down digging through a lot of trash trying to find some treasures. Trust me. There’s a lot of trash. One year my family found a cigar box of chicken bones for sale.

This time we saw a stack of very used mattresses for sale right next to a cage of potbelly piglets. (Hai, East Texas.) FOR SALE, YOU GUYS.

How does that even work? Do you Febreeze the crap out of it? Put six layers of sheets on it on top of a thick plastic one? Soak it in bleach and leave it outside for a week? I don’t even know. The possibilities are endless.

However, there are plenty of good shops among which is the shop these were shot. But LORD. Were the mosquitoes in full force. Don’t worry. The $20 giant, white owl I bought made up for the pain which I plan to put on my future apartment balcony. hashtagdreams.

Happy Thursday!

Mini Malls at Night. BOO.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with f2 presetblouse: thrifted, jeans: F21, sandals: Academy Sports & Outdoors, necklace: Target (gift)

I wore this to church the night before my birthday. My sister was giving her testimony (nailed it, btw) and I wanted to spice it up with a little glam. The only places open in my “town” at night are Whataburger and the gas station. Our Dollar General was about to close so while my parents ran in for a few things we snapped these under the flattering fluorescent.

I can’t believe how big of a score this blouse was. I bought it several years ago in no doubt a Goodwill somewhere in this country. Rulez, right?

So what are you doing for Halloween? I’ve got no plans. We can’t wear costumes to work so I think I’m going as farts in a human costume.

Happy Halloween. BOO.
