The trouble with wedges.

blouse: thrifted, jeans/wedges/belt: Target, earrings: Old Navy

I’ve been waiting to wear this blouse since I got it on our thrifting trip in Commerce. It’s oversized, silky, and comfortable. Unless it’s worn with a belt or some bright pants it looks like a scrub top, though! Just so you know, I wore pointed flats to school and just popped on these wedges to take pictures. I nearly rolled my ankle walking out back. Could I be any more awkward?

Saturday Swoons

It’s been a while since I’ve posted one of these! I just wanted to share a few things I’ve come across that I thought to be pretty/would look great in our home/on me. (Too many slashes?) You know, my birthday is coming up in a few weeks…

One: Dorothy Perkins Leopard Scarf, $17
Two: Fresh eau de Parfum Sugar Lemon, $24.95
Three: Selma Sneaker, $24.99
Four: Cow Skull Mosaic Mirror, $145
Five: Merona Boyfriend Watch, $14.99

I’ve probably wanted a leopard scarf for a year and a half now and haven’t ponied up the $15 to buy one. There’s a really great one at Target right now. Long and full! Don’t miss out on it! I think leopard goes with everything! And I know what you’re thinking. Those sneaker wedges are like, what, so 1995? Well, I used to absolutely HATE them. Until I saw two pretty stylish ladies wearing them. And they’re black. Instead of white with laces… *cringe* Also, I’ve been really wanting a cow skull. SO. BAD. Problem is, all the ones I find are too expensive for me. Anyone have a dead cow? Much obliged.

Thrifty

Here are some of the gems I’ve picked up lately. I don’t shop all that often since we’re saving a lot right now. But it seems like when I do I find some pretty good stuff!

Top to bottom: Old Navy ruffle tank, brand new Old Navy flats, floral and leather weekender bag (my favorite find! $2!), chevron sheets that will be made into curtains, and an accordion coat rack.

What are some things you’ve thrifted lately?

Date night.

tee: Target, jeans/sandals: Old Navy, bag: Forever21

Our labor day was less than stellar. We spent last Friday and Saturday moving furniture and hanging things everywhere and just giving the ol’ house a heave ho. Sunday was spent with my family so Monday was going to be our day. Jason spent most of the morning and early afternoon at the school, (even though the school was closed. don’t even get me started.) and when he got home he worked on updating his office that we rearranged. We finally got around to planning our date and getting ready later in the day. I took Pepper back to our room while I got ready and the next thing I know there’s a puddle on our freshly washed sheets. Stunned, I stripped our bed and started the wash. Over an hour later I was finally ready to go. It was just one of those times when I couldn’t find a thing to wear. Toosmalltoobigtoofancytoocasualthat’snotcleanwhydon’tIhaveblackheelswhereismy blacktankIdon’tevenhaveasimpleblacktee? kind of days. So after a dozen outfit changes I just threw on a tee and jeans. No fuss.
And wouldn’t you know it? Labor day is over. Jason’s back to work and I’m back to class tomorrow. It just seems that these weekends fly by so fast. It makes me sick. But at least I had a day with my sweet! Hope things slow down really soon. I miss that guy.

Easy Breezy

cardi: F21, dress: Webster for Target via Goodwill, necklace: F21, watch: thrifted (similar), ring: flea market, belt: Old Navy (similar), sandals: Old Navy (similar)

Found this dress at a huge Goodwill near my sister’s school while we were down there helping her move into her new apartment this weekend, which I’ll post more about tomorrow! This dress was in a collection by Webster for Miami at Target earlier this year, I think. Those collections always sell out so fast I never get my hands on any. Living an hour away from a Target also probably contributes to this… I digress. I found this brand new in my size at Goodwill for $10! A little pricey for Goodwill if you ask me, but it’s a perfect flowing maxi to add to my closet! Even though it’s pretty summery, I’ll pop a sweater over it for the fall and on into the winter. What do you think?

An outfit and a story

tee: Hanes, vest: Old Navy (similar), skirt: Target

Wore this out to linner (lupper? dunch? dupper?) with the in-laws Friday afternoon. This week hasn’t been the best so getting out for a two hour lunch was just what we needed. (Told you I love this skirt. I literally wore it all weekend. Is that gross?)

So here’s our Story of the Week! Thursday a Direct TV tech was scheduled to come out from 12-4 to install cable. Jason was at work across the street but I was home all day sitting literally by the front door. I purposefully didn’t do anything in the rest of the house because we can’t hear when someone knocks if we’re in the back of the house. SO! 2:00 rolled around, 3:00, 4:00, no tech. At 5:00 we called to see what was up. The rep we called said apparently he knocked on all three of our doors and waited for 45 minutes and also tried our neighbors. We see that as highly unlikely seeing as how I was literally by the front door all.day. He “showed up” at 2:45 so if he stayed for 45 minutes he would have left at 3:30. Jason was walking across the street to grab his keys at 3:30. We were furious. After some admittedly heated conversations several customer service reps, we learned that no one could come back out for two weeks. The main reason we decided to turn our cable back on was to watch the Olympics! *%#$^!$@*&! I hastily emailed, after some searching, the president of customer service and got a call the next day. The super sweet girl put in an order to their field office and someone is out here right now installing it. Thanks, Josh! 🙂

Now if I could just get this tuition issue sorted out…
