Resurrected

Remember this? I’ve been thinking of outfits to wear that could even come close to how much I loved the last one and I think I did it. The kimono has been resurrected. (HA) Also beware for photo overload. I mean, I loved this way too much.

How was your Easter? We had an incredible and sweet church service and then we spent another hour shooting these after church in the gorgeous field behind the building. Best hour I’ve ever spent. We came home to a delicious ham lunch and then spent the rest of the afternoon lounging and getting ice cream. By the way, someone let me know how those Dairy Queen waffle cone blizzards are because apparently our local DQ doesn’t serve them! Waaaahhhh!

Looking forward to having dinner with a friend tonight. 🙂 What’s on your Monday’s agenda?

#overit

Sunday was Palm Sunday so naturally our church was littered with palm branches. And oops I stole a bunch of them for these pictures. It’s okay. My mom works at the church.

dress worn as top: JCPenney, skirt: Forever21, cuff: Forever21, sandals: Target

I’ve been crazy about layering maxi skirts over dresses lately. It gives an extra layer plus it extends my wardrobe by…a lot. (Numbers are hard.)

Shel and I went to see Kari Jobe in concert last Friday and OH.MY.GOSH. We were both dead. What an incredible time of worship. If you ever have the chance to see her DO IT. One of the best $20 I’ve ever spent.

Then Saturday shaped up to be pretty perfect. Dinner with my grandparents and spending time laying in the green backyard looking at the sky… sigh. Birds chirping, fruit trees swinging, baked chicken; delicious. Then drinks with friends to cap off the night. Sunday brought a sweet church service and a Chinese lunch date with my sisters. Palm pictures in the yard by the creek and then a friend’s senior voice recital. I ended the weekend with a couple of friends talking about anything and everything. I love getting to know the people I’ve known for years and ones that I’ve just met. Talking to people and figuring out who they are is my jam lately. I love people.

Happy Monday TUESDAY!

ModCloth’s Uniquely You Campaign

*Every time I tried spelling ‘campaign’ I switched the ‘n’ and the ‘g.’ Help. It’s been a long week.*

You guys, it’s finally Thursday! And you know what that means! Okay, you don’t, but I do. ModCloth stylist Amy Hirt contacted me last week about joining their Uniquely You Campaign for 2014 and asked if I would style an outfit. Are you joking? Like they even had to ask. I was assigned this super retro swimsuit called the Fruity Suity One Piece (in plus-size!!) and built an outfit around it.

Now honestly, building an outfit for a swimsuit seems a little silly you’re probably saying to yourself. But think about sitting at the beach under that cute striped umbrella you bought on sale and sipping on a frozen margarita out of a pitcher you snuck onto the beach wearing this outfit. Now are you digging it?

MODCLOTH COLLAGE

Granted, I’m horrible at collages but here’s what I was picturing (the umbrella and the margs aforementioned are included, of course): it’s that dusky part of your beach day where the lighting is perfect and the sun isn’t harsh and you just want something cool and floaty to make you feel gorgeous. Like your salty hair and bronzed skin aren’t doing it for you already, right?! I’m big into kimonos right now and the simple gold jewelry adds glam without being too much I’m-wearing-jewelry-at-the-beach. The mini-gladiator sandals counteract the edginess of the angular jewelry and rounded shades.

Here are the other pieces I used:
Savannah Stroll Jacket in Ink
Sunset Sky Sandal
The V to Success Ring
Pendulum Panache Necklace
The Music Seen Sunglasses

So what do you think? Be sure to check out ModCloths’ new line of swimsuits! A lot of which come in plus-size! REJOICE AND HALLELUJAH!

Now scoot over and get your retro on.

We Took Our Gal Pal to the Park

Over spring break, we got a little antsy sitting around at home even though it was so.nice. Pepper loved having everyone home so we decided to take her to the park. She had an absolute blast and so did we! The scenery was just gorgeous.

After a few hours at the park and snapping my camera crazy, we drove through Sonic to grab some big ol’ drinks and treat Pepper to a grilled cheese. Which, by the way, she loved. She was so exhausted when we got back she crashed for the rest of the night. She is such a great dog. I wish I had more time to do things like this with her and lived a little closer to some parks. Hey! Another reason to move to Dallas! 🙂

What parks do you like to go to? This one is Synergy park in Kilgore, TX. I know Tyler has some really beautiful ones and I’d love to go and check those out too one day. Saturday fun? Yes!

I Did My Sister’s Makeup. Again.

Remember when I did my sister’s makeup? Well, I did it again and this time it was for an engagement party. I glammed her up with a gold look and warmed it up with some medium pinks. I love how it turned out.

WHAT I USED:

Wet N Wild Fergie Eye Primer
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded
Urban Decay Naked Pallet
Wet N Wild
NYX Cream Blush in
Revlon Colorstay Foundation in Buff
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer
Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara
Jordana 12 Hour Made to Last Eyeliner in Brown
ELF Brow Kit in Ash

After priming her lids, I started out with Half Baked out of the Naked pallet on her lids. I blended some browns into her outer V to deepen it up. after highlighting her brow with a matte cream shade, I blended some of a medium pink shade out of the Wet N Wild pallet right above the brown shade to warm it up and give it more dimension. It gives a little something extra without looking too pink. What do ya think?

Our Backyard

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Since my sister was throwing her birthday party outside in our backyard, our parents bought a fancy new firepit. It poured rain the night of her party but we’ve been out by it several times since then making very good use of it.

There’s something magical about sitting around a fire for hours. It’s like time stops and electricity doesn’t matter and makes your body tired at normal hours. After a night around a fire I’m ready to hit the sack smelling like smoke. I love camping. You can find me out by this all spring and summer. Bring the ‘mallows.
