The curses of being short

button-up: thrifted, skirt: Target, sandals: Old Navy

This skirt is the best $7 I’ve ever spent. It’s long, breezy, and pink. Best skirt ever for Texas summer heat! Although, the length was a little too long for the gas station bathroom on our way back from Houston. I brought in a Sonic cup to rinse out so Pepper could have some water. The floor was so disgusting I had to wrap my skirt up and stick it between my legs. Ew.

What I’d Wear: Girls Night Out

Friday night the Olympics start! Eeeee! Since we don’t get Direct TV installed until next Thursday, my sister is having us over to watch the opening ceremony this Friday. Fancy menu, live television, sister time, gymnastics… ahhh! For a little gals night in, here’s what I would wear!

 1/2/3/4

Ooo la la! I got a little festive with the numbers even though the Olympics are in London. I’m funny like that. 😛

Feedback time! I’m thinking about making this a semi-regular post here. What do you guys think? Too cool for school or unlegit so I should make it quit?

(Pssst! One more day…)

Strap it on.

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this on here before, but we’ve been saving up to buy a brand spankin’ new camera for Christmas! This one, actually. I picked it out in the spring and have just been side-eyeing it ever since. When we visit Best Buy I snuggle her and let her know I’m coming back… promise. And since it irks Jason that I don’t use a camera strap for the camera we have now, that’s actually his camera, I thought it’d be a good idea to suck it up and buy one, seeing as how I’m giving my left arm for the camera and all and wouldn’t want it flying over a cliff because I don’t have a strap. (longest sentence ever?) Plus, it gives me something else to shop for. 😉 This endeavor has reintroduced me to Etsy. Tis a magical place full of patterns, colors, handmade, sweet people… it only seems fair that I patronize a sweet shop and get myself a strap! Here’s a roundup of the ones I’m also side-eyeing…

one: leather neck camera strap by leathinity. $49.99
two: sunburst chevron camera strap cover by bluebirdchic. $40
three: navajo red camera strap by CapturingCouture. $49
four: leather camera strap in warm chestnut by MagpieAccessoriesUK. $39
five: southwestern camera strap by couchguitarstraps. $34.95

Which one is your favorite? I’m partial to leather, but think it would cut into my neck or arm. And I know I’m late to the game on this, but chevron is like, the best ever. Decisions, decisions!

(Pssst! Two more days until our surprise…)

Let’s do lunch.

shirt: Pacsun (similar), skirt: thrifted (similar, similar), flats: Target (similar, similar), watch: thrifted (similar, similar)
height: genetics

I know, I know that you all are jealous of how short this skirt makes me look without heels on. Trust me. I rolled it up four times to make the skirt shorter thus elongating my legs. Did it work? 🙂 Man, does that red door make everything look good! Whew! You go Laneville VFD! 😉

I wore this out to lunch with Jason and his mom at our very favorite spot El Sombrero. Best Mexican food for miles, you guys. (Besides Chuy’s!) If you’re ever in Kilgore or Longview hit. that. up.

This weekend was pretty relaxed. We laid around and watched videos on our laptops, I watched Spongebob, made homemade ice cream in a baggie with edible raw cookie dough, and hung out with my aunts. How was your weekend?

Cool stuff I bought for real cheap. Wanna see?

I said yesterday (wait, what day is it?) that my sister and I went to Houston for a little day trip. She stayed the night and we hit up the two thrift stores here. This giant church’s thrift store (FPC Thrift Store) and Goodwill (lame city/way overpriced). Srsly, the FPC is the GREATEST. EVER. They improvise on their prices. No price tag? Eh.. two bucks. I got a real fur coat, house stuff, and other clothes there all for $30 back in the fall. Wait, why am I telling you?! You’re going to take all the good stuff! JK.. I already bought it all. 🙂

So! Here’s what I thrifted from these magical places.

Cobalt blue trousers, polka dot skirt, crazy awesome patterned swing shorts.

Buttload of head scarves.

$2 leather bag, pleated skirt, striped sleeveless top.

Champagne flutes, wooden coasters, turquoise swan, and wait–what is that?

It’s a cat! No, it’s a pig! It’s a CIGPAT!

And this is Little Bit. I didn’t thrift her. Well, kinda. She likes to let me know who actually owns my stuff. Because why would it be me?

What have you thrifted lately? Any places I don’t know about that I need to hit up? I promise I won’t reveal your secret spots! 🙂

iPhone pictures, vacation chat, and an outfit

shirt: Gap thrifted, jeans: Target (similar), earrings: JCrew, sandals: Old Navy (similar)

These were taken before a spontaneous trip for lunch on Friday with J. We then shopped till we dropped. It was so nice to get out of the house!

Sorry for all the iPhone pictures. The lens I bought that was broken still hasn’t been fixed and returned so until then it’s either lackluster point and shoot pictures or lackluster iPhone pictures run through instagram. 🙂 Instagram it is.

Right now we’re getting ready to leave for vacation in Tennessee for a week with family. Can’t wait to hit up the big flea market up there and visit the Atlanta aquarium! Don’t worry, I’ll be blogging all week while I’m there. Hopefully I’ll get some outfit posts but I have a feeling we’ll just be eating, drinking, and chatting 24/7. And that is A-OK with me. 🙂
