A very simple outfit for lunch with my grandparents. It’s always nice spending time with them and getting to know them more and more with every visit. I love our family. Which is good because we are all going on vacation in 12 days! Ahh.. a week of beachy bliss. Margaritas and sand are calling.my.name.

Happy Monday!

This day was absolutely gorgeous. I got out and washed my car for probably the third time since I’ve had it. Oops! 🙂 We are getting ready to sell that mug and get something smaller so if you’re in the market for an SUV… 😉

It’s hard to believe it’s already June! I haven’t been out of school that long but my poor youngest sister, Rudy, is still in school. I do not miss those days. Yikes! We celebrated her passing the STAAR test the other night. Woo! That’s Texas’ state test that students grades 6-12 have to take at the end of each year. It’s been brutal on Rudy but she did it! And we’re so proud! Go Rudy!

How’s your summer going? So far I’ve been job and apartment hunting mostly and hanging out with friends before they move away! I’ve got a small goal list for the summer number one being find a job. 😉 I’m still waiting to hear back from my top pick. Praying so hard that I get it! If you feel inclined pray that with me!

This week I’m catching up on reading and going to see The Purge on Friday! Ooooo!

Happy Tuesday!

All About: Geo Prints

Hello all and happy Friday! I’m starting a new mini series today all about trends. You guys know I love to wear whatever I want despite the trends but I do like to gather inspiration and ideas from trends. Especially when they are easily accessible at places like Forever21, H&M, and Old Navy!

Today I’m focusing on the geo print. It’s a relatively new thing popping up all over the place. Shirts, pants, tights, jewelry, phone cases etc. I love the print! And it’s so easy to DIY because there are no set lines or patterns. Just start making angles. 🙂 It’s all about sharp shapes, lines, simple colors, usually black and white, and crisp angles. It is, however, different from a tribal print!

So if you want to see some examples of geo prints for summer, keep reading!

Bleached Out

These shorts were so fun to do! I cut them, frayed them a little, then dipped them in a bleach and water solution for an hour since they are such a dark wash. They lightened up significantly when I washed them, but they still smell like bleach. Yeesh!

So what’s new with you guys? How was your memorial day? Eat a lot of steak? We had watermelon mojitos, steak, potatoes, and zucchini. Yum!

Any of you watch Arrested Development? You really should. 🙂

Happy Thursday!

While taking these pictures my sister kept reminding me of how hippie this looked. Apparently wide leg jeans make one a hippie, in case you didn’t know.

When my sister and I went thrifting on Wednesday our main purpose was to shop for cool bathing suit cover ups for our beach vacay in June. Amongst what we found we bought several vintage tees to cut up and mangle to make them extra kewl. 🙂 This is an example of that! I just cut a long slit in the chest and give it a girly flair.

I want to take a second and get serious. (I know. Me? Serious?) I want to thank all of you for praying for me. Believe me, God is answering your prayers. He is listening. I love how much God is teaching me and showing me that He’s in control. He’s giving me a pretty amazing testimony. When I think about the future I get giddy and excited about where God will take me. This ride with Him is so amazing. So, thank you for praying. Please continue to pray!

Love you guys 🙂

Have a happy Memorial Day!

Last night our family participated in a little tradition we like to call Hotdog Express. It’s on Hiway 80 in Longview, if you’re ever in town! Cheap hotdogs and retro atmosphere. Mmmm. (Cash only!) I had a different outfit on earlier in the morning when I went to hear and judge some high school singers before they left for a competition. For Hotdog Express it was too hot so I threw on a shirt I thrifted Wednesday and some sequin shorts and jazzed up that hotdog joint! Don’t mind the unshaved legs, okay? That’s what we call “Classic Mel.”

Have you guys seen the new Wendy’s Frosty Cone? My only question is how it isn’t melting and sliding right out of the cone. Isn’t a frosty just a milkshake? Someone please explain this phenomenon to me.

How’s your week going? It’s Friday! Any plans for the weekend? I’ve got a MOUNTAIN of laundry to get done and a car to get clean to sell! Also more job hunting and graduation announcement sending.

Happy Weekend!
