My car accident was a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been trying to get the accident report to give to our insurance company and get our car fixed. However, the only place I can get the report is only open two days a week. I went to the building on one of the days they were open. Nope, closed. Called the number repeatedly and it just rang… and rang… and rang… So looks like our car won’t be fixed for a while! Frustrating. But at least our car still runs. 🙂 Bright side, right?

That time we went to a release party.

1. Getting some grub in the form of Whataburger before heading to Dallas.
2. The only picture I got before the party!
3. Palladium Ballroom/Jason playing Borderlands 2 before it was released last Tuesday.
4. Stage/giant recreations of the characters in the game.
5. Rudy Coby: Magician/Nerds playing the game on some serious consoles.
6. President of Gearbox (Jason fangirled.)/CREEPY character from the game. I moved quickly away from the front of the stage.
7. DJ Jazzy Jeff! (Will’s BFF in Fresh Prince!) Dude was AWESOME.
8. My cousins’ dog, Scout. They’re who we stayed with and went to the party with.
9. DQ on the way back.
10. A very rainy, trafficky trip back made for some quality time with J. 🙂

One of the best weekends of our lives! Our aunt and uncle are friends with the girl that plans all these parties for Gearbox and they went to the release party last year for Duke Nukem. Jason said how much he loved Borderlands so they invited us along for the release party of Borderlands 2. Jason was in serious heaven there. We were VIPs which meant free drinks and access to the after-party. Woo! It was dark, loud, and a lot of fun. The after-party was in the NYLO hotel in downtown Dallas where they served coffee, cheesecake and breakfast. It was calm and mellow after a pretty loud party until 2 am. We loved driving down to Dallas and seeing more of the city! We’re really trying to find a way to move down there sooner rather than later. It’s our absolute favorite. 🙂 Thank you Aunt Dana and Uncle Brandon for letting us stay in your home and letting us tag along to the party. 🙂 You guys are pretty cool.

We’re really bad at sports.

You’d think in the four years we’ve been together we’d have played some putt-putt already. Well, think again. Putt-putt on labor day was the cheapest, most relaxing thing we could have done. Besides see a movie. Course that would have also been air conditioned. And required no walking. But I’d spend $15 for some crappy golf over $50 for a crappy movie any day. Plus the movies don’t have giant replicas of safari animals.

And because I’m immature:

No YOU are.

A Family Hot Dog Day.

A couple of weeks ago I went to town with my family to blow off steam and waste time until Jason was through playing ultimate. We sat outside on the mustard yellow plastic benches and enjoyed chili cheese dogs and fries. If you’re ever in Longview, TX sit outside on a steamy summer evening at Hotdog Express! A cute triangular building boasting some seriously outdated decor. Get the hotdog or the Polish sandwich!

PS. They only accept cash!

Help me selfishly win an iPad.

I’m no photog by any stretch of the imagination. I do, however, admire dozens of actual photogs. Chimpsy is a site that helps budding photographers or amateurs develop their camera skills. I get their newsletter and sometimes I read it. Anyway, they’re having a contest to win an iPad. Registered members upload a photo and it’s voted on by peers. I entered and would love your feedback and votes! Here’s the picture I submitted:

So, if you want, you can go here and vote. I think it runs through August. If I win I’ll share the iPad with you…?

The day of.

We left here on Saturday at 9am. I wanted to try and find some place fancy, which to us is somewhere not fast food since all Henderson has is fast food. Blech. We ended up going to Freebirds. I know, fancy, right?! 🙂 I was too nervous and excited to eat because I knew as soon as we left we were going to pick Pepper up! Eeek! So currently my burrito is sitting in the fridge. It’s really nice that Houston is just a three hour drive for us. It’s a huge city! Plus it’s the city that gave me my lifelong dream. 😛 We’re getting into a routine finally with Pepper. Her first night in the kennel was a disaster. She barked and whined all.night. So we moved the kennel further away from our room so we could at least get some sleep while she learned she needed to be alone. She ended up sleeping through the night! I got up this morning to a sleepy puppy clamoring to get to me. Once she calmed down, I let her out and we went for a little walk. I’m loving this new routine when at first, I didn’t think I would. She’s such a great addition to our little pet family. I just hope the cats warm up a little more to her soon!

Happy Monday!
