Our Beach Vacation… A Month Later (Part 2)

I hope you like reminiscing as much as I do because I’ve got another small mountain of beach pictures to share with you. Do you like living vicariously? Good. ;P

My mom has been following Justin Gaffrey since our first trip to Florida. We visited his gallery in Seaside and were enamored with his unique paintings. He uses a literal TON of paint every six months. It’s incredible! Check him out, please! My new bucket list item is to own one of his pieces. My mom’s birthday was coming up so we surprised her with a trip to his gallery in Blue Mountain and then surprised her again with a small piece of his work. 🙂 She cried. It was great.

Our Beach Vacation… A Month Later (Part 1)

DSC_6336

About a month ago my family and I took an amazing trip to Grayton Beach Florida. It was the best beach we could have been to. So relaxed, casual, and a bar right next door. That’s where I had the worst margarita of my life. :/ But the food was good! I took a load of pictures and have whittled them down to a small mountain to share with you. It was an amazing trip and I’m already ready to go back.

Oh! I love the beach. I remember my very first beach vacation. My dad’s side of the family rented a lime green house in Galveston, TX. There was a hot bed of mosquitoes right outside the front door. There was a cement screened in porch as soon as you walked in and 70s decor filled the house. I remember dark brown sand, jellyfish, and millions of games of Wahoo. I was convinced my cousin, Bailey, cheated but she swore against it. 🙂

Beaches have a special place in my heart. I want to visit all of them in my lifetime but I think Grayton is my favorite so far. 🙂 All along highway 30A is a slew of different little beach towns. There’s one for everyone!

Sigh… I miss it. 🙂

I want to thank all of you that have been praying for Jason’s family. If you don’t know, Jason’s dad suddenly passed away a little over a week ago. It has been a very tough time for all of us. I never realized how much has to happen so soon after someone is gone. It’s rough on the family, the spouse, and the kids. Please continue to pray for comfort for Jason’s mom, his brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and Jason himself. Pray that we would see the big picture here and what God is doing in this situation. Pray for those surrounding the situation to know how to help and comfort and heal. We know who is in control and we continue to look to Him as we celebrate Jason’s dad’s life. We are thankful for his commitment to serve Jesus and share His love with the community. It was incredible to see the outpouring of love and support for the family the community gave.

It seems silly to post an outfit here after something so serious as death. But this blog reflects my life. It’s a journal for me and I need to record things… even silly things like a basic outfit and more life things like this.

I’m thankful for y’all that read this and pray. Please continue to do so!

Happy Monday 🙂

I wore this to run a bunch of errands yesterday. One of them being getting a shot. 🙁 Tell me how ridiculous this is: I needed a bacterial meningitis shot for online classes. Weird, right? So after finally getting the shot I’ll have to take the proof to the school office and get them to take the hold off my account so I can register for the classes hoping they’re not full yet. 🙁 I hate shots! I haven’t had one in a while and it wasn’t pleasant. What is it about the tiniest piece of metal being poked into my skin that I can’t stand?

Afterwards I spent a while in Walgreen’s spending my graduation money on makeup. Look out for a haul post soon!

Yesterday was also my sweet mama’s birthday! My sister made her surprise chocolate banana bread for breakfast and I made a chocolate cake and my special cookies! Yum!

Today I’m off to a secret meeting with a friend for a super cool post coming in the future. So look out for it! 🙂

Happy Hump Day!

Melody’s Miraculous Momofuku Meltaways

If you know me, you know I am a chocolate fanatic. I’m selling myself short here. I would marry it if I could. Yeah, that’s right. I said it. I love dark, milk, white, full of almonds, full of cream, full of anything really. So you can imagine my disappointment when I ventured into the kitchen for my fix and found *GASP* none! What’s a girl to do? Hit up Pinterest, duh. I almost immediately found this recipe in my Sweet Treats board.

choc+chip+cookie

I started to make them but quickly realized we had almost none of the required ingredients. Spoiler Alert! There is a happy ending and you can go HERE to my mom’s Free Recipe Friday blog (amazing, succulent food every Friday!), read it AND get my recipe! 🙂 Say hello to my mom while you’re there!

Hi, mom!

Happy Saturday!

I’m back! And oh I miss the beach already. My dad’s side of the family rented a three story house right on the beach in Florida for a week. Babies, cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles all together for a week. Only our family would be okay with that. 🙂 We are a very close family and last summer we started a new tradition called Family Share Time. Each family shares what has been going on in the last year, which I love because we wouldn’t know some of the stuff we hear had we not deliberately sat down and shared. We all complain about it but we secretly really love it. 😉 I am so incredibly blessed to be a part of such an uplifting and loving family. Sharing what has happened in my life these past six or seven months was difficult, but my family loved on me and encouraged me and told me they have been praying for me and will continue to pray. I couldn’t have asked for a better family. 🙂

The sand, the salty air, the cool bar right next door, the waves, the cool, relaxed vibe of Grayton… it’s all given me a new life goal. Buy a beach house. 🙂

Happy Monday!

Oh, PS! My cousin says hi. 🙂
