My sister’s birthday was on Saturday and she turned fifteen. FIFTEEN. YOU GUYS. WHAT. She had over 15 teens and it was nuts. They were too cool to eat the homemade slider burgers my mom made and all the popcorn and snacks and were content sitting shy on the couch flirting and watching scary movies and screaming when the girls got scared.

This is what I wore. Comfortable and cool enough to let the kidz know that I was totally not a square. Nailed it.

I’m going back to work this week after having been off for five days. I had a gorgeous vacation: family dates, sleeping in, junk food, and peace. It was calming and refreshing. Just what I needed. I feel great going back to work! Here’s to hoping I’ll still feel this way after being back a week. 😛

Last Saturday was my sister’s fifteenth birthday. It was nuts. I can’t believe she’s fifteen now! I’m just getting used to her being fourteen. She had a lot of friends over and they made noise and ran around and hung out on the front porch that we never go out on because it’s so small. For her present, Shel and I filled a basket full of candy and makeup and cash; three of her favorite things. That cake? Yeah. That’s an ice cream cake that was the best cake we’ve ever eaten. Thanks, Mom!

Didn’t realize the HUGE mess it made along with the million of mosquito bites we accumulated while shooting these. When I changed clothes confetti and glitter fell.everywhere. It required an immediate shower. Then, this.

Pop Pop Gets a Treat

Six days before my birthday is my dad’s birthday. He turned 49 this year but I’m totally not embarrassed that my dad is old because he has a beard and is kewl!

We celebrated in classic dad style with lots of good food and cake. Mom made the best Chinese food you’ll ever have and crab rangoon dip. DIP. Okay? Like those little fried fortune cookie things with crab dip inside? THIS.IS.JUST.THE.INSIDES. THEN she made wonton chips. They are so much better than any other kind of dipping chip. So crispy and bubble and light. Yum.

Mini Malls at Night. BOO.

I wore this to church the night before my birthday. My sister was giving her testimony (nailed it, btw) and I wanted to spice it up with a little glam. The only places open in my “town” at night are Whataburger and the gas station. Our Dollar General was about to close so while my parents ran in for a few things we snapped these under the flattering fluorescent.

I can’t believe how big of a score this blouse was. I bought it several years ago in no doubt a Goodwill somewhere in this country. Rulez, right?

So what are you doing for Halloween? I’ve got no plans. We can’t wear costumes to work so I think I’m going as farts in a human costume.

What Happens When You Throw Glitter

I’ve been 23 for about a month so that gives me the right to post about it whenever I want, right? 🙂

My birthday celebrations actually started three days before with a surprise dinner with all of my friends from school! They brought me the sweetest card signed by the entire choir that I was apart of for two years and then brought me face cake. I love these people. They really are the best.

The next day I wore my birthday headband and birthday girl button and brought mom-made chocolate mocha cupcakes to work just like an elementary student. 🙂 BTW, you can’t have my mom. She’s mine.

After the best day of work ever I came home to my favorite dinner: roast, potatoes, carrots, and a beer in a frosted mug. 🙂 Then I opened the best presents; a sassy shirt, margarita shower gel, and a gift card for a mani/pedi and a haircut. I don’t like spending money on myself that way so my parents knew exactly how to pamper me!
