A Puppy Birthday

Today is my sweet pup’s birthday. She is ONE! She has grown tremendously since I got her last August so I thought we’d stroll a little down memory lane. 🙂

She LOVES playing in water. LOVES.

We put her in a shirt a few days ago. 😀

And here she is today. A year old and about to eat some birthday peanut butter.

It’s been a wild ride with this pup and she’s not even fully grown yet. I can’t wait to see how her personality changes!

Happy Birthday Pepper!

Last night our family participated in a little tradition we like to call Hotdog Express. It’s on Hiway 80 in Longview, if you’re ever in town! Cheap hotdogs and retro atmosphere. Mmmm. (Cash only!) I had a different outfit on earlier in the morning when I went to hear and judge some high school singers before they left for a competition. For Hotdog Express it was too hot so I threw on a shirt I thrifted Wednesday and some sequin shorts and jazzed up that hotdog joint! Don’t mind the unshaved legs, okay? That’s what we call “Classic Mel.”

Have you guys seen the new Wendy’s Frosty Cone? My only question is how it isn’t melting and sliding right out of the cone. Isn’t a frosty just a milkshake? Someone please explain this phenomenon to me.

How’s your week going? It’s Friday! Any plans for the weekend? I’ve got a MOUNTAIN of laundry to get done and a car to get clean to sell! Also more job hunting and graduation announcement sending.

Happy Weekend!

I Putt You Putt

For part two of Mother’s Day we took my mom to Outback and then played a rousing game of putt-putt Monday night. Complete with trash talk and crappy playing. The weather was absolutely beautiful and it was a great start to the week. I plan on going to pick up some final projects from the school and spending most of the day taking pictures around campus. I was hoping to get to that earlier in the semester when it was cooler but there was never really a good opportunity. So I’m going to force my sister to come with me and hang out. Bonus! The campus will be desolate so I should get some good shots.

What are your plans for the week? Any putt putt competitions? I can give you some pointers!

Really Public Bathrooms

My sister Shelby didn’t get to come in last weekend because of school stuff so we met her halfway in Sulphur Springs and experienced some really, really public bathrooms. Sulphur Springs decided it would be a good idea to install two mirrored bathrooms in the middle of downtown. You can see out, but not in. So naturally our family took full advantage of these.

Dad successfully used it. All I did was Vine it. 🙂 (Are you on Vine?) (Why aren’t you on Vine?!) (@melodyrich)

Have a great day, guys! Happy Friday!

PS. Let’s all marvel at my vast bank of poses.

I held a baby

baseball tee: BF Old Navy $5 score, skirt: BF Kohl’s $8 score, boots: F21, necklace: old

Saturday we celebrated Thanksgiving with my family at my cousin’s fancy new house! Woo! The little cousins played football in the backyard, I held a baby, we all ate the greatest food ever, and just enjoyed being together. I could have hung out all.day. Seriously, how did I get born into such a rocking family? I don’t understand it.

So I wore this skirt and a comfy tee to accommodate the copious amounts of food I was to eat. It worked. Plus it was stylish. Right? Sure.

Happy Thanksgiving! (From your favorite procrastinating girl.)

Plaid galaxy + Black Friday stories

shirt: my sister’s closet, dress: Target, boots: Urban Outfitters

I love this dress! I remember seeing it before it went on sale and thought it looked like a galaxy and loved it. My sister has really been into space since she took an astronomy class last semester. She’s pulled us all in too!

So did you brave Black Friday? After my horrific experience last year I swore it off forever. However… Jason’s aunts and cousins get really into it and have made shirts! They make a big list with a schedule so they can hit what they want. I was kind of on the fence about it after I had seen Ulta was having some pretty good sales. (Even though most of them are still going on!) I’ve never really wanted anything big like a camera or laptop so I haven’t had to fight for stuff (that’s crazy to do anyway!) but I was still very anxious about it! My sisters and our friend were going and I thought hey, why not?!
After Thanksgiving with Jason’s family that Thursday I drove back to my parents and mentally prepared for the craziness. We got to town about 10:30 and hit Target first. They opened at 9 and my stomach was in knots. I DID.NOT. want another experience like last year. I needed a buddy the entire time in the store but everyone was in a cheerful mood! Even most of the employees! IT WAS SO BIZARRE. Dare I say a pleasant experience. (Though I have friends that had to work it and I don’t think they’d agree!)

Next we went to Ulta since it’s in the same shopping center. Though we had to wait in line for 45 minutes or more to check out everything was well stocked and people were still pleasant. NYX was having buy 1 get 1 50% off and I stocked up. I’m loving their stuff so far!
Next was Kohl’s. That.store.is.HUGE. I kept getting lost trying to find my sister! I picked up a couple of things and then waited in the check out line for probably an hour. CRAZY. I got a dress in store but it didn’t fit so I had to rebuy online because their sale stopped at 1pm! At least I got my size and color! 🙂

Lastly was Old Navy. The mother of Black Friday hell. There was a HUGE line waiting to get in before midnight and then they closed to restock and then reopened. Thankfully we got there after all of that happened at around 3am. EVERYTHING was stocked. I even got the coat I wanted! Woohoo! We still waited in the check out line for forever but it was still fun. 🙂

Since we couldn’t feel our feet we naturally decided to grab drinks and fries (healthy fuel) for the ride home. Watered down Coke never tasted so good…

We got to bed around 7am. Best.night.ever. I’d do it again 🙂

Did you brave it? Was it worth it? Let me know what you got! My stuff will be popping up on the blog in the next week!
